Located on a back road off of 61, this 1700's log building exudes quaintness and charm. We went for our anniversary, and were given a quiet table. The curry shrimp stir-fry was fragrant and plentiful. The shrimp were jumbo. I asked for it over linguini instead of rice. The salmon with ginger and sesame was perfectly cooked. Salads were delicious with homemade blue cheese dressing. Appetizer was pesto bruschetta. Tomatoes were from the garden Dresser was triple chocolate cake- not homemade, but good. Bring your checkbook or cash. No cards accepted. A great evening!

I was delighted to find this gem of a restaurant in Schuylkill Haven. I am pretty picky when it comes to food--disclaimer: my husband is a chef. The menu was huge for a small restaurant, and the food was definitely fresh. I ate the salmon with angel hair and tomatoes. The dinner salad was beautiful. The beer selection was surprisingly good, too. The is certainly off the beaten path, but I will be back--with cash next time. :)

I took my fiancé to the Nutty Pear for her birthday. We started with the Shrimp Bisque for an appetizer. It was delicious, to say the least. It was thick, quite delicious and good amount of shrimp. The bisque was served in a large bowl and was a treat to eat. My fiancé's entree was the Blackened Delmonico with potatoes topped with bleu cheese. My dinner was the Delmonico au Poivre with mushrooms, creamy cognac sauce served with potatoes. The steak was extremely tender, and very generously portioned. The dinner was absolutely exquisite. I never give compliments so believe me when I say this restaurant is tremendous. We had the opportunity to talk with the owner and she is a very nice, extremely gracious woman. Thank you Nutty Pear for another great dining night.

My husband and I met some friends this evening at this wonderful little place for the first time. It's hidden way off the beaten path but worth the trip. The meals were delicious and fresh. I had Salmon with a dill sauce ,the fish was so fresh and flavorful . ask for the sauce on the side, it was a large serving. My friends steak was scrumptious with blue cheese on top and the Mediterranean veggies over pasta instead of rice was fresh and delicious. My husband had the chicken cutlets and said they were wonderful. We didn't have dessert because we were to full but they looked great. The bill per couple was 80.00 very reasonable for the food and cocktails we will be back!!! They only take cash or check and its BYOB and a $15 bottle opening fee is charged.

Nice, romantic atmosphere. Food is fresh and delicious. A little inconvenient that they don't accept credit cards so you have to pay cash or check. Food is made to order so they are not rushing you in and out but you can't expect to go and be in and out quickly. That is a definite attraction! The only think negative thing I would say about this place is that I think the menu is kind of rude (they don't split checks on Friday and Saturday so DON'T EVEN ASK!) Yes, that is what it says..... Nice place to go that doesn't have bratty kids running around annoying you when you are trying to have a quiet, relaxing dinner.

I am well traveled and eat at fine dining establishments all over the country. I think this is the best steak in Schuylkill County and the service has always been excellent. This is a place I can bring my children for a nice meal or someone special for an evening out. Nice quiet atmosphere and terrific food, while I have been there "many a time" the overall experience is good everytime I go. Kind of a staple for me and my family!

I frequent NYC restaurants, and whenever I am in this area (a few times a year), I try and stop here for dinner. Food is creative and good, and I really appreciate the great service.

Went here for valentines day and it was a terrible experience. Not only did the food take an hour to come, with the dining room empty, but when the check came we were informed it's CASH OR CHECK ONLY. We're not informed this when we called for reservations or when we sat down. Also, the place is very pricy for food you can make in your own kitchen. The chicken Marsala had maybe 4 pieces of mushroom in it, and the chicken bruschetta appetizer had about a pound of tomatoes on it for 4 small pieces of bread. Our waitress came to our table only 3 times in the full hour we waited and we had to hunt her down to ask for the check. Very unenjoyable and overpriced for the experience we had.

The Nutty Pear is a restaurant off the beaten path. I wouldn't have known it existed if not for a coworker passing on her good review of the place. The building appears to be an old barn turned restaurant..which also is someone's house. The place has a unique and cozy vibe to it. We visited the Nutty Pear for our Anniversary. The service was very slow and it seemed like they only had one waitress on staff. Im not sure if the slowness was due to a 10 or so person party that arrived right before us or not so its hard to hold them at fault for this. The waitress was very friendly and great at offering suggestions for wine/food. We started the meal with chicken satay which was very good and not too peanutty. About 30 mins later we got our salads and then about 40 mins later we got our meal. Total visit was about 2 hours. Our dinner was creative and delicious and i would definitely recommend The Nutty Pear to others. We had the chicken bellini and the Filet Au Poivre. My only other comment would be bring cash or checks. When i reserved our table on the phone days prior no one mentioned that they don't accept cards. I was lucky to have a checkbook on me or else i would have had to turn around and go home.

The Nutty Pear definitely won't appeal to EVERYONE, as it is a very quirky kind of restaurant. But I love it because it's different, it's a quiet place to have a nice meal with someone, and the food is definitely cooked just for you. The Nutty Pear is located on Adamsdale Road, a back road just off busy Route 61. It's not on a main drag, and I've never been in there where it's fully packed, so it's a nice change of pace. It's got a very small bar and very intimate dining room, and now a deck to enjoy the outdoors. The food is cooked to order by the owner and the specials change seasonally and with what she has on hand. When she has sushi on the menu I always order that. The mussels in garlic and white wine sauce is incredible, served with crusty bread.

Stopped by this place on the last leg of a roadtrip and found ourselves in an awkward situation. Be prepared: This is someone's house. There is construction going on right now and it wasn't open when we were there. So, we were walking around someone's house... and construction work... just, call ahead, yeah? Also it's on a back road and there are no other houses within sight of it. Maybe regulars from the area enjoy it, but it was weird for an out-of-towner.

Terrific! The chef is wonderful, talented and accommodating! I have food allergies, the chef has no problem working around the foods I can't eat to create flavorful meals. She uses fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables and is a whiz at sauces! The menu changes regularly and is always something to look forward to! Love Patti and the Nutty Pear!

Had our anniversary dinner here on June 21 and as usual, this place has impressed us once again. We had the clams in garlic/wine, french onion soup, shrimp piccatta, bruschetta shrimp, and fresh strawberries with real whipped cream for dessert. Their "simple" house salad is an event in itself: fresh interesting field greens, fresh beet slice, bell pepper, carrot slivers, and homemade dressings. The food is all incredibly fresh and hand-crafted. The French onion soup is like none you've ever had. Shrimp in the entrees are huge and tender. The restaurant this night was very busy with a large birthday party, but the service was still great - attentive and efficient. We've been coming here since the early 90's and will continue to do so. We drive an hour to come here for dinner. Cozy, quaint place on a quiet country road. Just wonderful.
